About us
Charvil Girls’ Choir is for 11- 18 year old girls. Rehearsals are held at Charvil Village Hall, Park Lane, Charvil on Sunday evenings between 6.15 and 7.45pm. Rehearsals will take place during term time only. Throughout the year, the choir will take part in concerts, festivals and competitions. Every other year, the choir will take part in a short concert tour either in this country or further afield. In the alternate years, the choir will hold a choral singing workshop, looking at different styles of singing – gospel, classical, folk, etc.
There is also a chamber choir made up of a small group of the older members. This group will meet once a month for rehearsals. They will take part in concerts and festivals. The group will also be available to sing at weddings, etc.
The choir’s Musical Director is Suzanne Newman. After teaching in schools for several years, Suzanne became a self-employed teacher of piano and singing. She has been based in Charvil for about twenty years and currently has sixty pupils of all ages and abilities. Suzanne has run various choirs over the years including the Charvil Children’s’ Choir, Vivace Girls’ Choir and Bel Canto. She currently conducts Charvil Voices’ Choir.
